These images are from Moon to Moon, which I found a while back but have recently begun searching through the tags and exploring and gasping at every little beautiful thing I see. (A whole blog of this stuff!)
Last night I repotted a few plants on a whim (it's not the season to be doing that, but I'm pretty sure these few plants are indestructible...) and got the fever for houseplants all over again. I love all my plants and they're all unique and special to me, but I want more.
Now I'll have to be resourceful, because almost all of my plants were gifts from friends and family or cuttings from their plants now grown into independent beauties, and that is how I prefer to acquire them. It's a beautiful symbol of the continuation of life to see my great-grandmother's Moses in the Cradle (Rhoeo) blooming and thriving next to her daughter's version of the same plant, next to my precious Jade trees grown from little cuttings from my friend Matthew who stumbled upon gardening right before I did and encouraged me by sharing; I have plants from my paternal grandmother, plants from my best friend's grandmother, plants from my special visits to Frederik Meijer Gardens, plants from my travels; plants that feed me and purify my living space; thriving on our meager sunshine and drinking the same water I drink.
Houseplants in the bathroom. One day mine will be pretty too!
Someday. I want this.
Have you talked to your plants today?
Love, Nico
p.s. I just read that my Jade tree could grow to 6 feet or more.. I don't know about that, but we'll certainly see!
